The Secret- power to positive thinking

‘Name of the diseases must be changed from everyday English words to something entangled.’ I said. ‘ like ?’ he raised his eyebrow. Actually we were in the middle of discussing something about positive vibration and stuffs.
‘Common cold to some words that people don't hear often.’ I rephrased. ‘like?’ It was his second like and it had a connotation. He was curious and inclining towards commendation at the same time. He knew exactly where I was gonna land with this thing.
We two discuss about ‘The secret’ all the time. I was referring to some part in the documentary ‘The Secret’ where the lady on the screen articulates what mother Teresa had to say when she would be asked to join in anti-war rallies. Mother Teresa on her denial would ask them to invite her on a Peace rallies and not anti-war rallies. It might seem to everyone  at first that anti war rallies and peace rallies are  the same thing : to bring in peace. But it seemed that Mother Teresa had other way around to pray for peace.
So i said ‘ from common cold to nasophryngitis(scientific name to common cold) may be?’
He was like ‘then people would go to the nearby clinic and say i got something called nasophyaaaa....the Compounder will simply go crazy.’ We exploded in laughter.
I wanted to say that if names were changed to unwonted then people wouldn't need to go to the doctors at the first place. But it was too early to insist on something that is not even close to being taken seriously. So here i am writing about it.
What Mother Teresa said on the denial to anti-war rally was pushing away the things that you don't want brings more of it. So one should not try to push away the things they don’t want and rather focus on what they really want. Even uttering of the words that you don’t want brings more of it. That’s the reason she denied to go to some anti-war rallies, because she didn’t want wars but peace. She is amongst the many famous personalities in the world who is supposed to have known ‘The secret’ of life. So if her words were any true then my hypothesis about changing names of the diseases shouldn’t fall very far from the tree, except i m not amongst the truly known personalities.
I don’t imply to change all the names of the diseases to something atypical. It would simply bring chaos in the medical world. You don't have to change ‘diarrhea’ to any other names because diarrhea only means ‘an illness in which the body’s solid waste is more liquid than unusual and comes out of the body more often’. But ‘Common Cold’ these two words have two different meanings when divorced. These two words are pretty popular words in whole of the continents even in the countries where speaking in English tends to zero. No wonder all the people in the world catch this disease at least once.
I have some more: ‘tuberculosis’. You don’t think it spells any easy ,do you? Well, it doesn’t. It only pronounces easy and its pronunciation is the closest to the word ‘TV’ for television. I don’t think i need to tell you how people in our country pronounce TV. We almost dwell on TB all the time. I even made fun of a friend, who had TB. I asked ‘How many Satellite channels you get?’.  Our country where people don't know television is actually ‘TV’, has a lot of TB patients. This disease is so popular that our national budget has some programs included every year to efface this disease.
There are two more popular and dangerous diseases which falls on the above categories, spreading as it gets spelled every time. HIV positive: technically not a disease itself only infected with HIV. But you don’t think this calm if your blood report says HIV positive, do you? I don’t think i need to explain about the word positive. You say your friend to think positive, your science book talks about the positive charges. We talk about this word positive all the time.
‘Cancer’ : this is one disease with no cure. Most people in our country knows cancer only as a disease, it doesn’t mean the word has no other meanings. It is the fourth sign of zodiac, relating to the period from 22nd June to 22 July and represented by a crab. Just do the maths , how many people you think wake up in the morning and look at this zodiac sign on some newspaper and start their day. You think their number is few??
Well , i can’t just assure you that changing the names of the diseases would do all the magic. But if there is really this power in the words and its vibrations like Mother Teresa said , who knows ‘a posteriori’ like this could bring  some magics back.

The old man , his dog and Kaluram

You owe me two taka . The old man turned back , emptied his pocket, asserted his hand and said :here you go, satisfied??  The shopkeeper was taken aback. The old man , he was a little agitated. He hollered his dog Mintoo and advanced into the dark streets of Shurma. It was 1 am in the night, well technically speaking that was morning already. He had bought some bread loafs for Mintoo. The old man was littering the street with tiny pieces of bread.

Mintoo , he is 7 yrs old. Mintoo grew older with the old man . The old man grew older with his job . His job was to look after one residential area , he ended up as a guard all his life. Not that working as a security guard is a bad thing to do, i am absolutely not prejudiced about it. Infact , the old man was  a benevolent man. He buys Mintoo a packet of bread, that would cost him around 10 taka each day. The reason he was pissed off at the shopkeeper was that he had no credit left. But, the merchant would insist he had. Talking about the old man and the dog.Mintoo doesn’t devour on the litters, hasn’t bitten anyone from the locality but the burglars. Mintoo has got a scar on his head , he got few stitches when he ran amok on some bandits. They hit him with a sharp stone. The doctor charged the old man 900 taka.
Mintoo

That’s what the old man has to say about his Mintoo. We were three, listening to his stories from the beginning of the time. He has been a security guard for really long time. I mean few decades , that's a great deal of time. A friend of mine was so impressed with the old man for he could keep his loyalty with the job. But it’s a shag on a rock the other way, alone and stuck away from others for such long time. There is no fragnance of progress except the yearly slight, top up on the salary. My friend didn’t ideate this way, he went with the loyalty. I guess there is no accounting for the human tastes.

I was drifted back to my memories. I had written a piece about a guy named Kaluram. He would look after the affairs on the field. From axing of timber to shouldering me to school. It wouldn’t just be hauling me to school, he would pack me inside of a sack holding my uniform on his hand and make me dress up inside the class room when the assembly of students are singing some prayers to saraswati  to help them gain knowledge. He later got away to some places i didn’t know. And when i met this same guy after getting admitted to a University in Bangladesh, he was still the same person except he had some grey hairs on the side. I wasn’t expecting him to change his name from kaluram to some Kim , James, rocky, bicky or sth. But I was hoping he did something great with his life.

It really changed the way i used to think. I mean i got almost everything for granted. My parents are well off, i have a beautiful life to cherish on. Kaluram’s life didn't change a trifle for a decade and more.He was 35 when i last met him. I grew up from being a messed up school kid to an engineer , and to some extent Kaluram did some fantastic job: help me pocket the change. He’s just one representative of this huge mass of Nepalese population. Still we can see on the streets, veterans selling their labors as porters, carrying a basket of fruits, run a small hut-shop on around a corner. If we ask them,if it’s been always like this? They would probably say yes.

If you are reading this and you retain some fairy dreams, this might give you some ache. How can a person lead the same life for decades? How can you, not get over it and move on? Its doesn’t seem so easy. Does it? Our country has been witnessing the same stalemate for more than a decade. There has been no physical development, no mental peace and worse of all people lost the faith in democracy. No wonder, the generation who grew up with the insignificant: so called people’s war still lead the same life.Kaluram deserved something better in life. There were only few options given to the working class population, hold guns or we don’t care. Kaluram didn’t choose guns.

a writer’s confession

I should be scoring high in GRE. Whatever it takes, for that I am ready to write blogs that I had never thought of. Whatever it takes, read more novels and less course books. Whatever it takes read ‘long walk to freedom’ and note down the “I swear on god I heard this for the first time” vocabularies. Install “omg, it’s a game format(.jar,.jad)” ebooks on my mobile phone. Whatever it takes, learn stuffs about mobipocket application to read ebooks on mobile. Asking my roommate about the desktop installation of mobipocket application, upload ‘a thousand splendid suns’ on my mobile to read it during; before sleep and short boring moments after every 15 mins of study (during exams). Whatever it takes, think about changing my writing genre from “I don’t know a fucking thing about this writing” to poetry, which I have absolutely no idea of. Whatever it takes, bookmark 2 nepali news portals and rest of English news portals on my opera mini browser.

फेरी नेपाली अैना मा हेरौला र अनी " this fucking mirror is biased dude !! lolzzzz “

अ कुरो के भने : a writer’s confession .
.  कुरो पनि जता लगे पनि जाने।।।
I want to become a writer, to score high GRE points and get into New York metro someday. I am not sure if I am even close to being a writer let alone good. So I can’t take this chance of leaving everything behind and start writing books. I bet I won’t even finish reading it myself.  I can neither take any writing courses at the moment nor move a slight about this whole GRE thing. I am a future Civil and Environmental Engineer (future=1 year), so I have almost secured some portions of my life. However, I can’t still decide if I seriously want to become a writer.I make excuses like i can't write during exams.

I know I can only talk Nepali good but I am poor at writing Nepali. My sister writes fabulous Nepali articles. I envy her a lot. This blog cannot be an exception.  And about English writing I told you how hard I am trying.  And I hope to get some comments at this particular sentence if you ever cross this Nepali (OMG! he is messing with another language) hurdle. You would probably say “seriously, your Nepali writing is good”. This means I am not good at either of ‘em.

May be that’s the reason I don’t write much. I write, just to make myself feel ‘writer’. And If I write at large scale, people will know that how much I suck at writing. They will crush this imaginary ‘me’.  So it is always the truth that crushes people’s imagination and frankly I don’t want to know the truth.
